the H1N1 virus spreading thick and fast, two more persons tested positive for the on Sunday. While one of them is a doctor at Government Medical College and Hospital-32, the other is an 18-year-old girl staying as a paying guest in Sector 32.
The 25-year-old medico who was diagnosed with swine is from the department of anaesthesia at GMCH-32 and a resident of Sector 15, Panchkula. Health officials in Panchkula have been informed and asked to quarantine the doctor’s family members.
Sources said the other patient is from Rewari district in Haryana. Her roommate has also been quarantined.
Notably, none of the patients had distinct travel histories.
UT nodal officer for swine flu HC Gera said, ‘‘The virus of the disease is in the air and people with weak immunity are more prone to it.’’
Gera added the condition of all the patients was stable and they were responding well to the treatment. He advised family members of those infected to maintain a periodic tab on the patient’s fever and ensure they consume plenty of fresh fruit and fluids. ‘‘They must also frequently wash their hands with soap,’’ he said.
‘‘Most importantly, wear a positive attitude,’’ he advised.
He urged patients and their families to follow guidelines formed for home treatment. ‘‘Ask relatives not to visit you for some days. If possible, even domestic helps should be given an off,’’ Gera said.
Meanwhile, another suspected case of swine flu was reported at GMCH-32. The patient is an from Sector 52 and has been admitted to isolation ward.
